Cafecito y Nostalgia

Cafe con Leche

Cafe con Leche

Cafe con Leche is a coffee shop brand. It's meant to be a safe space for all. A LatinX audience who grew up drinking the cafecito their parents and grandparents shared with them will feel a great sense of nostalgia and comfort.

The Scope

For this project, we wanted to create a fun, but clean logosuite. We went with a rounded type to cater to the millennial audience and contrasted with a monospace type for the subheading and body. The coffee stain logomark really was the finishing touch that brought it all together in the end. We wanted to keep a simple, straight to the point website, since this brand is for a coffee shop. Users needed an easy way to get the shop's location and learn a bit more about the brand.

Research

Whenever I would ask my non-Latin friends and peers when they started drinking coffee, a majority would mention during college, starting a job, maybe the occasional high school. And when I would mention I started drinking when I was a literal child, they would be shocked. But it was such a normal thing when asking all of my Latin friends and family. There is stats and numbers out there stating that LatinX moms give their kids coffee starting a young age. It's just something that's engrained in our culture and it's no surprise if you walk into a Latin household and find your child drinking a cafecito with a pan dulce sitting on their abuelita's lap. I wanted to link a blog post here that describes exactly what I'm trying to say here.

Some Final Thoughts

This brand stems from my childhood. When my grandma passed in 2022, I spent the whole rest of that year listening to her favorite music, drinking coffee the way she did, and even using her mugs. I kept thinking, what if there was a brand, a coffee shop, that we can go to, support a Latin owned business, and relive those warm memories? Can someone please make this happen, I beg! This one's for you buelita, <3
